Sick all week, then a decent 5K

Track Week 5 - 2/4-2/10

I delayed posting this again for a couple reasons.  The main one is I’ve got lazy since breaking my hand, but also to respect our teams training methods as teh season comes to an end.  I don’t want to show exactly what we are doing while we tapper until its too late to copy.

2/4 - We went on a new route for our long run this week.  It ended up being pretty hilly, but I felt great the whole way.  It went out 10th street for 5-6 miles, then turned left and eventually ended up on the bike route out towards St. James and finished like running Mule.

Total 17 miles, 150 minutes

2/5 - I don’t remember exactly what I did today, but I think I ran the shrot version of Morning with a little add on in the morning and Generic in the afternoon.

Total 12 miles, 82 minutes

2/6 - I ran a horrible workout.  I had been feeling sick for a couple days, and didn’t even finish.  We had 7xmile at 5:10-5:20 pace with a minute recovery, but I only ran 4 with all but the first too slow.  My splits were 5:12, 22, 27, 23.

Total 9 miles, 55 minutes

2/7 -  I was still feeling pretty bad when I did my long run in the morning today.  I ended up only going about 11 miles instead of 12-15 with an upset stomach.  In the afternoon I started to feel better, and ran Richard Johnson with Mike at a decent pace.

Total 16 miles, 100 minutes

2/8 -  I ran College hills with Joffroi today, but still wasn’t feeling 100%.  After that we left for Iowa.

Total 8 miles, 50 minutes

2/9 - I ran the 5K at Iowa State today.  The facilities were great, and it was a 300m track, so the race was only 16.7 laps instead of 25.  I got out really good on the first mile and was at about 4:45.  The next mile I really fell off the pace for some reason and ran a 5:08.  On the third mile I finally got back into the racea and ran a 5:07.  I finished with a decent lap and ended up running a 15:38.  The race went a lot better than the week before, but I know I can run way faster if I actually race on the second mile.

Total 7 miles, 43 minutes

2/10 - The longest I have ever run indoors.  Me and Joffroi went just over 50 minutes on the indoor track at Iowa, because Sunday practice was cancelled.

Total 7.5 miles, 52 minutes
