Indoor Conference

Filed under: Chris Thielker, Logs — Chris Thielker @ 6:03 pm

Track Week 7 - 2/18 - 2/24Well conference went way worse than I hoped for.  I really struggled in both my races, running my worst times of the year.  I am glad that indoor is finally over and I can start wroking on steeplechase and get ready for a fresh start in outdoor.  I did 61.5 miles.

2/18 - The run got shortened to 70 minutes this week, so Conrad and  I ran College Hills, then out to Walmart and back.  It was a good 10 mile run to start the week off

Total 10 miles, 70 minutes

2/19 - In the morning I ran the short version of morning in about 25 minutes.  In the afternoon we ran Green Acres plus a little bit in the middle to add a mile on.

Total 10.5 miles, 70 minutes

2/20 - The workout got cancelled for today, so we ended up running easy mileage instead.

Total 8 miles, 55 minutes

2/21 - I did the workout today with Joffroi.  We had 5×1000 with the normal decreasing rest, but it started at 2 minutes instead of 3.  The pace was 3:10-15 and 2:55 for the 3rd and 5th ones.  I made pace on all of them except for the 5th where I ran about 3:04.  I was happy with the workout and enjoyed running in warm weather for a change.  In the morning I did a 4 miler.

Total 11 miles, 67 minutes

2/22 -  We ran Green Acres as a big group today.  It was the las tpractice before conference and felt good.

Total 7 miles, 45 minutes

2/23 - Joffroi and I ran around Ber Juan Park from the house, and I ended my run at class.

Total 5 miles, 34 minutes

2/24 - Indoor conference was today.  I ran two horrible races.  First was the 5K.  Just over 100 meters into the race I was tripped and got right back into the race but it wasted some energy and messed me up a little mentally.  We went through the 800 at a slow 2:28, and then the pace picked up to 2:20 for the next 800.  After that  Istarted to fall of the pace and don’t know anymore of my splits.  I ended up continueing to fall back to last in the fast heat and ran a pathetic 16:09.  The 3K went pretty bad two, but I had given up hope before it started.  I was feeling really out of it and wasn’t planning on doing naything special.  Since I felt good abouyt 600 meters into the race I surged up to the front of the pack and ran on Kurt’s shoulder for a littel while to keep people form bumbing him.  I continued to feel good so I took the lead up until the mile to push the pace some.  After that I slwoed down and finished the race at a relzexd pace to run 9:22.  I actually placed lower (22nd) than I did at OCnference for Cross Country.

Total 10 miles, 57 minutes
