Recovery Week

Filed under: Chris Thielker, Logs — Chris Thielker @ 6:05 pm

2/25 - 3/3

We got Sunday through Wednesday off after Conference to help our legs recover before outdoor. I managed to get in 33 miles in the second half of the week. I also got started working on hurdles for steeplechase. It was tiring doing all the extra work, but hopefully it will lead to a good sesason.

2/25 - Recovery Day

2/26 - Recovery Day

2/27 - I ran down to multi to work on hurdles and stretch, then ran back to the house. I spent about 2 hours total.

Total 3 miles, 20 minutes

2/28 - I stretched and did a few hurdle drills.

3/1 - Today was a pretty amazing run. We started out doing Martin Springs, running into a 30 mph wind on the downhill. After we got off the paved road we found a trail over a broken barbed wire fence and decided to run it. It was a really big hill at first, but pretty nice to run on. At teh top of the hill it opened up to a big field for hunting with a path down the middle. We ran that and hit another long trail that went back down the hill. After a mile or two we came to the back of a persons yard, went over their gate, and were back on the road. Then we crossed over to the railroad tracks and ran along them for a little while until vearing off onto another path. The next path we ended up going over a gate to run on smoother ground. After a whle that path dead ended so we had to hop over a fence with the top layer made of barbed wire and climbed up a soft gravel hill to the railroad tracks again where we ran and saw a four wheeler chasing us. From there we hit another dirt path and ended up running the railroad tracks along the side of Martin Springs again until they veared back off the road and finished the run like normal. It was a good start to the outdoor season.

Total 10 miles, 66 minutes

3/2 - Today was just an easy run with Joffroi and Boston. We ran Green Acres, plus added on a little at the end to get closer to 6 miles. We also ran to and from practice.

Total 7.5 miles, 49 minutes

3/3 - It was horrible weather for todays long run. It was cold, windy, and snowing. The combination of wind and snow do not go good, because it blows right into your face. I ran with Piotr for the first time since cross country season. We started out at a decent pace when we were running with the wind or not against it, but the second half of the run was really slow and I struggled. It probably ended wit hrunning close to 8 minute pace.

Total 12.5 miles, 92 minutes
